Marcel Koning was born in Emmen, The Netherlands on 5th of December 1969. Aged two, he emigrated to South Africa, dragging his parents along. He spent most of his childhood in Johannesburg, attended school and then later completed two years of military service as an army medic.

In 1990 Marcel moved back to the Netherlands and joined a family business to work as a flooring installer in Drenthe and Gelderland. During this time he built up a good rapport with the folk at Carpetright (it was called Carpetland then).

After five years, his family persuaded him to return to South Africa, where he continued in the flooring business, working independently and with his family. He also worked as a foreman for a building contractor.

He met and married Victoria in March 2001, and they decided to move to the Netherlands, which is a good base to travel from, and formed their own business.

Being an entrepreneur runs in the Koning blood

In 2002 Marcel picked up his agreement with Carpetright, and works for them as a contractor, installing laminate, vinyl, marmoleum, linoleum and carpets. Victoria helps him with larger jobs. They also install (and deliver) laminate flooring for Floorstyle.nl, a Marvic.biz website offering flooring products.

Furthermore, Marcel designs and builds websites for Marvic Web Design, using Wordpress and Drupal (new venture).

Hobbies and interests include travel, 4x4 and offroading, rugby, fine beers, outdoors and camping. Members of the Land Rover Club Holland.
